      Delivery of oxygen and nutrients to tissues is arguably the key physiologic process of human life. It is even more complex during fetal life, where the fetus is dependent upon the utero-placental unit for its survival. Perfusion is a complex process, which involves numerous physiologic functions carried out by the heart and lungs, and in the fetus the utero-placental unit.
